Are you planning a trip to Benidorm and looking for a thrilling day out with friends or family? Terra Mitica is a massive theme park located just outside Benidorm and is an absolute must-do activity in Benidorm when you visit! Its open all summer long and I highly recommend visiting if you’re in or around the area.

As one of Spain’s largest theme parks, it offers thrilling rides, amazing shows, and a unique take on ancient Mediterranean civilisations – all in one place.
Where is Terra Mitica theme park?
Terra Mitica is located in Benidorm, on the north-western side of the city. It sits about 8 kilometres from Benidorm’s centre,.
The park is one of many Benidorm’s parks, which also includes Benidorm’s water parks Aqualandia, Aqua Natura, and Benidorm zoos including Terra Natura and Mundomar animal park.
The exact address is: Partida del Moralet, s/n, 03502 Benidorm, Alicante, Spain.
The different zones of Terra Mitica
It’s themed around ancient Mediterranean cultures, with five different zones representing Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia, and the Islands. Each area has its own unique rides, attractions, and shows that bring these ancient worlds to life. It’s perfect for families, groups of friends, or anyone who loves a bit of adrenaline mixed with history!
See the park map below:

Note:
- Low season starts from May 16th 2025 – June 27th 2025. This means only the Egypt, Greece and Rome areas are open. The Islands and Iberia will be closed.
- High season starts from June 28th 2025 to September 7th 2025. All areas in the park will be open.
Egypt
Step into the mysterious world of ancient Egypt! This zone is dominated by massive temples, sphinx statues, and towering obelisks that make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time to the days of the pharaohs.
This section has:
- The Rapids of the Nile – a water ride where you’ll get splashed!
- Fury of the Gods – a spinning pendulum ride that will make your heart race
- The Pyramid of Terror – a dark, indoor attraction full of surprises
- The Port of Alexandria – a gentle boat ride suitable for all ages
Greece
The Greek zone transports you to the world of Greek mythology and ancient Olympic games. This area features white stone structures, olive trees, and statues of Greek gods.
The zone is designed around a central plaza that resembles an ancient Greek agora (marketplace), with amphitheatre-style seating areas where you can rest and enjoy street performances.
You will find:
- Flight of Icarus – a fantastic family coaster where you’ll feel like you’re flying
- Titanide – a thrilling inverted rollercoaster
- Synkope – a pendulum ride that swings you high into the air
- Tritons – a large boat tide with steep chutes that will plunge you (and spectators) in water
- The Labyrinth of the Minotaur – a maze attraction based on the Minotaur myth
Rome
When in Rome, do as the Romans do! This section of the park is designed to resemble the glory days of the Roman Empire, with a colosseum, Roman baths, and ancient streets.
The architecture here is impressive – tall columns, fountains, and statues of emperors create an atmosphere of imperial grandeur. This zone also features some of the park’s best street entertainment with gladiator shows throughout the day:
- Circus Maximus – a show arena where you can rest your feet and watch spectacular performances
- Flight of the Phoenix – the largest drop ride in Terra Mitica
- Inferno – a thrilling, inversion rollercoaster ride (not for the faint-hearted)
Note – the Colussus wooden rollercoaster shut down in 2015.
Iberia (opening in the high season)
This area and the Islands are home to the best family and children’s attractions.
The Iberia zone celebrates ancient Spain and the Iberian Peninsula. This area has a distinctly different feel from the other zones, with Spanish and Moorish influences in the architecture.
The buildings here are painted in rich terracotta colours, with tiled roofs and decorative arches. The area represents pre-Roman Spain and includes references to ancient Iberian cultures.
Celebrating ancient Spain:
- The Falls of Triton – a splashy log flume perfect for hot days
The Islands (opening in the high season)
This area and Iberia are home to the best family and children’s attractions.
The Islands zone represents the various Mediterranean islands and their maritime traditions. This area has a more relaxed feel with lots of water features, fishing nets, boats, and a harbour-like setting.
The architecture here includes lighthouses, fishing huts, and sailing ships. It’s a nice area to visit when you need a break from the more intense rides.
The Mediterranean islands section contains:
- Rapids of Argos – travel in huge rings that go down the river while spinning and bumping around from side to side
- The Odyssey – a 4D cinema experience that’s great for cooling off
Best rides at Terra Mitica
These are the must-try attractions:
- Titanide – An inverted coaster where your feet dangle freely as you zoom around loops and corkscrews. Not for the faint-hearted!
- Synkope – The pendulum ride in Greece is one of the best ones in the park. The views from the top are amazing… until you swing back down, that is!
- Falls of the Nile – This was my very first ride when I visited Terra Mitica at 6 years old. It is an exhilarating water rollercoaster based in the Egypt area, with two large drops into water.
- Flight of Icarus – A family-friendly coaster that’s perfect if you want something thrilling but not too intense.

Tips for visiting Terra Mitica
- Go early! The park gets busier as the day goes on. If you arrive when it opens, you can enjoy the most popular rides with much shorter queues – my strategy is usually running straight to the Titaide and Synkope in the Greece area so I can go on those first.
- Check the show times when you arrive and plan your day around them. The shows are fantastic and worth seeing.
- Bring sun cream and a hat. This part of Benidorm is hot, and you’ll be outside most of the day.
- Wear trainers. You’ll be doing loads of walking to the different zones – and you don’t want to lose your shoes on a rollercoaster!
- Consider a fast track pass during peak season (July and August) if you hate queuing.
- Bring a water bottle that you can refill throughout the day – staying hydrated is very importannt in the Spanish heat.
- Visit on a weekday if possible – it’s always less crowded than weekends. June will be very busy with school trips visiting the park – try and time around this if possible!
A day at Terra Mitica is one you won’t forget – from heart-stopping rides to amazing shows, it’s a fantastic addition to any Benidorm holiday. I go every time I’m in the area, and it never disappoints!
