Safari Aitana
This is Spain’s only mountain safari park, and it’s absolutely amazing!
Set high in the mountains above Alicante, you’ll drive through different zones in your own car, getting up close to:
- Lions
- Tigers
- Bears
- Giraffes
- Zebras
- African antelopes
What makes Safari Aitana special is the setting – the animals roam in huge spaces with the mountains as their backdrop. It’s about an hour’s drive from Alicante through some stunning mountain roads.

- The last part is up mountain roads – take it steady
- Make sure you have a full tank of fuel
Opening times and prices
- Open daily 10am – 5pm (winter) or 6pm (summer)
- Adults €25
- Kids (4-10) €21

When should I visit?
Each park offers something different:
- Safari Aitana is great year-round – the mountain air makes it cooler in summer
- Terra Natura is best in spring or autumn when the animals are most active
- Mundomar is perfect for summer as there are lots of shaded areas and water features
My top tips
- Safari Aitana: Pack a picnic – there’s a lovely area with mountain views
- Terra Natura: Get there for opening time – the animals are most active early
- Mundomar: Book dolphin experiences in advance – they often sell out.
Which should you choose?
If you’re in Alicante for a week, try to visit at least two:
- Safari Aitana for a unique mountain safari experience
- Terra Natura if you want to see lots of different land animals
- Mundomar for amazing marine life shows
Fancy making a full day of it? Terra Natura and Mundomar each have water parks next door (Aqua Natura and Aqualandia). In summer, you can get combo tickets to their respective waterparks and make the most of both!
