Platja de les Marines

  • Platja de les Marines is one of the main beaches in Denia, and very easy to get to.
  • It takes about 10 minutes to walk there from the Denia old town.
  • It is a sandy beach.
  • There is an inflatable water park platform in the sea, which is fun for children to play on.

This is one of Denia’s main beaches and incredibly easy to reach – just a 10-minute walk from the old town.

Platja de les Marines is a sandy beach and one of the most popular spots to visit. The water is wonderfully calm, shallow, and warm during summer, making it brilliant for families with young children.

There’s plenty of space to set up your umbrella and chair without feeling cramped.

One of the highlights here is the inflatable water park platform out in the sea. It’s absolutely fantastic fun for older children and adults, with slides, obstacles, and trampoline platforms that catapult you into the water! Tickets cost up to €18 per person and you can buy them from the official stand on the beach. I’d definitely recommend trying it at least once during your trip.

Since you’re so close to the city centre, you’ll find bars and restaurants right along the beachfront when you fancy a bite to eat. Just remember to take your belongings with you – I wouldn’t recommend leaving anything unattended on the beach.

Playa Bovetes

  • Bovetes is further to the left of Platja de les Marines
  • It takes about 15 minutes to get there by car from the Denia centre.
  • It is a sandy beach.

Bovetes sits to the left of Platja de les Marines, about 15 minutes by car from Denia centre.

This is another lovely white sandy beach, though it’s much further outside of Denia than the others. If you don’t have a car, you might want to book one of the local Denia taxis to get there.

What I love about Bovetes is how spacious it feels – you can really relax here without fighting for space. The locals adore this beach because the water is crystal clear and shallow, perfect for families with little ones.

As you walk further up the beach, it gets quieter, so finding a prime front-row spot is never a problem. There are some nice extras here too, like volleyball nets and even a climbing frame for children, which makes it more entertaining for families.

You’ll also find Chiringuito Mojito, a beach bar that serves food and drinks right on the sand.

Els Molins

  • is further to the left of Platja de les Marines
  • It takes about 13 minutes to get there by car from the Denia centre.
  • It is a sandy beach.

Els Molins is located to the left of Platja de les Marines, roughly 13 minutes by car from Denia centre. This sandy beach is never too busy, which makes it perfect if you’re after a more peaceful day by the sea. The water stays shallow for quite a distance, making it brilliant for children to play safely.

What really sets Els Molins apart is the incredible sunset views – it’s honestly one of the best spots in Denia to watch the sun go down. Just be aware that there are quite a few stones in the water and some seaweed, so I’d recommend bringing appropriate footwear.

Les Deveses

  • Les Deveses is the best local beach for windsurfing and other water sports as its so
  • It takes about 26 minutes to get there by car from Denia centre
  • It is a sandy beach.
  • During the summer, there’s an inflatable platform in the sea which is fun for children to play on.

Les Deveses is the go-to beach for windsurfing and other water sports, about 26 minutes by car from Denia centre. This is a peaceful stretch of golden sand that offers excellent conditions for water sports, particularly windsurfing and kitesurfing. If you fancy trying your hand at catching some waves, there’s a surf school right on the beach.

If you fancy trying your hand at catching some waves, there’s a surf school right on the beach.

Not into water sports? Don’t worry – Deveses has quieter areas with calm waters that are perfect for swimming. During summer, there’s also an inflatable platform in the sea that children love playing on.

The views here are absolutely stunning too – you’ll get beautiful shots of the Montgo massif mountain in the distance, perfect for making your friends back home a bit jealous of your holiday snaps!

Playa Escollera Norte en Dénia

  • Playa Escollera Norte is very close to Dénia’s marina and town centre
  • It’s a dog-friendly beach, perfect for pet owners
  • The beach can have algae build-up, which sometimes causes an unpleasant smell
  • Despite its location, it’s not always the cleanest option due to slow algae removal

Moving back towards central Denia, you’ll find Playa Escollera Norte right by the marina and town centre.

This is a dog-friendly beach, which is brilliant if you want to bring your four-legged companion along for a seaside stroll or a splash in the waves.

I have to be honest though – the cleanup of seaweed can be a bit slow here, which means you might encounter some build-up near the water’s edge. On some days, this can create a bit of an unpleasant smell and make getting into the sea less appealing than you might hope.

If you’re not keen on dealing with potential seaweed build-up, you might want to consider the other beaches in the area. But if you’re after convenience or want somewhere your dog can enjoy the beach with you, Playa Escollera Norte could be worth checking out.

Playa de la Marineta Cassiana

  • Marineta Cassiana is right next to the Denia Marina
  • It’s a sandy beach with good amenities, including a beach bar and bathrooms
  • Offers disabled access to the water and adapted bathroom facilities
  • Not ideal for snorkeling due to less clear water than the other beaches

Marineta Cassiana sits right next to Denia Marina, making it incredibly accessible if you’re staying in or visiting the central area.

This small sandy beach is well-equipped with various facilities. There’s a beach bar where you can grab refreshments, and public toilets are available. The beach bar also offers a package of two hammocks and an umbrella for €20 a day, which is quite reasonable.

What’s particularly great about Marineta Cassiana is that it’s set up to help those with mobility issues. The beach offers disabled access to the water and has toilet facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Just be prepared for some sea plants washing up on the beach itself – it’s quite common here. I wouldn’t recommend this spot for snorkelling as the water isn’t as clear as some of the other beaches. For that, I’d suggest heading to Platja de Les Rotes or Platja las Rotas instead.

Not recommended for snorkelling as the water isn’t as clear as the other beaches, I would recommend looking at Platja de Les Rotes or Platja las Rotas.

Platja de Les Rotes

  • Platja de Les Rotes is great for snorkelling
  • Platja de Les Rotes is a 7-minute drive from Denia old town, or a 40 minute walk
  • Features a mix of sandy and rocky terrain
  • Offers beautiful views with Sant Antoni cliffs as a backdrop

Platja de Les Rotes offers a refreshing escape from the more tourist-heavy areas of central Dénia. Tucked away beyond Marineta Cassiana beach, it boasts stunning views and a backdrop of the impressive Sant Antoni cliffs.

As you move along the beach, you’ll notice the terrain shifting from sandy to stony areas. Like many beaches in the area, Les Rotes does have its share of seaweed near the beginning, but this doesn’t detract from its appeal if you’re seeking a quieter, more natural beach experience.

The unique rock formations here create an ideal environment for snorkelling, while scuba divers can discover an underwater world teeming with various fish species.

Parking is easy, with spots available right next to the beach. There’s also a lifeguard on duty for extra safety.

Platja del Trampolí

  • Rocky and stony beach located in a marine nature reserve.
  • Popular spot for snorkelling.
  • Platja del Trampolí is about a 10-minute drive from Denia old town.
  • It has a wooden diving board that you can jump off into the sea.

Platja del Trampolí is a rocky and stony beach located within a marine nature reserve, making it a popular spot for snorkelling due to the abundance of fish in the clear waters.

The beach features a flat rock area with a small wooden diving board, about one metre above the sea, which is a favourite for children. There are also stairs available for easy access to the water.

The beach has free parking nearby, and a Red Cross health post with a lifeguard present.

Platja las Rotas

  • Platja de Les Rotes is the best local beach for snorkelling, as the water is very clear and transparent
  • Its about a 7-minute drive from Denia old town
  • It is a rocky beach, so do bring protective footwear
  • The beach is also part of a hiking route

Further along from Platja del Trampolí, Platja las Rotas is a distinctive beach that stretches for about 5km along the Dénia coastline.

Unlike the sandy beaches closer to town, this one is characterised by its rocky terrain and round stones. The clear waters and rocky bottom make it an excellent spot for snorkelling and diving. You’ll be sure to find schools of fish as well as crabs.

Interestingly, the beach is part of a hiking trail which leads to an old watch tower.

It’s situated farther out than other Dénia beaches, making driving the recommended option. There’s free public parking available about 400m from the beach.

It’s also a great choice for those who prefer a quieter beach experience away from the crowds.

This is also a great choice if you prefer a quieter beach experience away from the crowds. Just make sure to bring water shoes – they’re highly recommended due to the stones and slippery areas. While some spots are suitable for families with small children, other areas with more challenging rocky terrain might not be appropriate for little ones.
