Denia sits right between Valencia and Alicante on Spain’s east coast, making it a brilliant spot for setting sail on the Mediterranean. With crystal-clear waters, many of its own beaches, stunning caves, and nearby coves all waiting to be discovered, boat trips from Denia are an absolute must-do when visiting the Costa Blanca.

Catamaran boat trips from Denia

A catamaran boat trip is hard to beat. Its a more relaxing boat option which makes for a lovely activity to experience and gift to others. There are several catamaran boat tours in Denia to suit different budgets and preferences, you can even choose between daytime or sunset options, both offering incredible views of the coastline.

Prices start from just £12.91 per person, making them one of the most affordable ways to get out on the water for a memorable experience.

Catamaran day trip with sunset option

Book your sunset catamaran trip through Get Your Guide

If you’re looking for something a bit more comprehensive, consider this catamaran trip that takes you towards Las Rotas in a motor catamaran, along the Natural Marine Reserve.

During the day trip, you’ll sail along the coast admiring magical beaches and cliffs. The highlight is reaching the stunning Cova Tallada, where you get incredibly close views from the catamaran. Throughout the trip, you can enjoy music and a complimentary white wine, water, or soft drink.

The sunset option offers spectacular views as the sun sets over the mountains of Costa Blanca. As you sip on your drink and listen to chill-out music, the sky transforms with beautiful colours – it’s truly an incredible experience.

Daytime catamaran cruise

Book your daytime catamaran trip through Get Your Guide

The daytime cruise takes you along the bay where you can sit back on the nets or central seats and feel the gentle rocking of the boat while taking in views of Denia’s coast, cliffs, caves, castle, and distant mountains.

The sunset option is special – you’ll watch the sun sink below the horizon while listening to chill-out music with a glass of cava in hand. It’s such a romantic experience and perfect for couples or anyone who appreciates a beautiful sunset – its the boat tour I’ve gifted the most!

Boat excursions to caves and capes

The coastline around Denia is dotted with fascinating sea caves, hidden coves and dramatic cliffs that are best accessed from the water. These boat trips focus on the natural wonders of the Costa Blanca, giving you a chance to see formations that have been shaped by the Mediterranean over thousands of years

Boat trip to Cova Tallada

Book your Tallada Cove boat trip here through Get Your Guide

The Cova Tallada trip is one of my favourite boat excursions from Denia. La Cova Tallada is a sea cave located on the northern slope of Cabo de San Antonio. This unique experience takes you along the coast and gets you close to both the Tallada Cave and the Denia Marine Reserve.

As you cruise, you’ll enjoy wonderful views of Denia city, its castle, and the natural park of Montgó. The boat heads towards Tallada Cave, and depending on weather conditions, you’ll make a stop for a swim in the crystal-clear waters.

What makes this trip special is getting to swim near the protected waters of the Marine Reserve, where the water quality is exceptional. Keep your eyes peeled for sea life as you glide through the Mediterranean waters!

Three Cape boat excursion with snorkelling

Book your three-cape excursion here through Get Your Guide

For those wanting to see more of the dramatic coastline, this excursion takes you to three impressive capes: San Antonio, San Martín, and La Nao. You’ll sail very close to the coast, discovering beautiful spots, landscapes, and caves along the way.

The boat departs from either Denia or Javea (you can choose which works best for you), and makes a one-hour anchorage stop for swimming and optional snorkelling. It’s a brilliant opportunity to dive into the clear waters and discover the underwater world.

The trip lasts between 1.5 to 4 hours, depending on which option you choose, and allows free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance. It’s perfect for families or groups of friends wanting to enjoy both sailing and swimming.

Boats with water sports & parasailing experiences

Looking for something a little more adrenaline-inducing? These excursions aren’t just about sitting back and taking in the views – though you’ll get plenty of that too! They’re for those days when you want to tell stories about ‘that time I went parasailing over the Mediterranean’ or ‘when I zoomed around on a jet ski off the Spanish coast.’ They’re brilliant fun and give you a completely different perspective on Denia.

Boat trip with a parasailing experience

Book your parasailing experience here through Get Your Guide

There’s an exciting parasailing experience combined with a boat trip. This is perfect if you want to see the Denia coast from a completely different perspective – soaring high above the sea!

The 1.5-hour experience begins near the port in Denia, where you’ll board a boat and cruise along the stunning coastline. During the cruise, you’ll get strapped into a parachute for about 10 minutes of parasailing high above the sea. The expert captain and instructor ensure you’re safe throughout the experience.

There’s also a sunset option where you can listen to relaxing music with a glass of cava in hand, and even see the sunset while taking your flight over the waters of Denia – an absolutely magical experience (and gift)!

A few things to note about parasailing: there’s a minimum weight of 20kg for the activity. If you weigh less than 50kg, morning trips (starting at 9:00) are recommended. For those weighing more than 50kg, afternoon trips (starting at 17:00) work better.

Cala Blanca boat trip with jet ski and lunch

Book your trip through Get Your Guide and sail to Cala Blanca

This half-day catamaran trip with a chance to jet ski offers both relaxation and excitement as you head for the scenic Cala Blanca beach.

Once the catamaran has dropped anchor, you’ll feast on a delicious Mediterranean meal that includes salad, authentic Valencian paella, fresh fruit, and a drink. After eating, you can swim in the crystal-clear waters which are perfect for snorkelling.

But the highlight for many is the chance to feel the adrenaline rush of riding a jet ski in the Mediterranean! Afterward, you can simply relax on deck and let the gentle sea breeze wash over you.

Sailing experiences

These trips combine the joy of being on the water with proper food and drink, creating more of a floating restaurant feel than just a boat ride. When friends visit me in Spain and want one memorable day out, these are often the trips I suggest – especially for birthdays or anniversaries.

Portixol sailing catamaran excursion with BBQ

Book your trip through Get Your Guide and sail to Portixol

For a more luxurious day out on the water, the Portixol sailing catamaran excursion is an wonderful day out. This trip sets sail in the morning from Denia port on a spacious luxury catamaran with an expert crew, travelling all the way to Portixol island.

The route takes you along the coast between Denia and Jávea, where you’ll see numerous coves, crystal-clear waters, and steep cliffs. You’ll drop anchor in one of the coves, allowing you to enjoy a refreshing swim away from crowded beaches.

One of the highlights is the hearty lunch served on board – there’s nothing quite like dining with the Mediterranean as your backdrop! After lunch, you’ll have more time for sunbathing or swimming before returning to Denia in the afternoon.

Private Denia boat rental

Hiring your own boat for the day is my absolute favourite way to enjoy the Denia coastline when I have friends or family visiting.

Yes, it’s pricier than joining a group tour, but the freedom to stop whenever you spot a perfect swimming cove or to linger over lunch in a quiet bay makes it worth every penny. Split between a group, it can work out quite reasonable too!

Half-day private boat rental (4 hours)

This half-day rental gives you the freedom to create your own adventure along the Denia and Jávea coast.

Priced at £301.31 for a group of up to 9 people, this works out very reasonably when shared between friends or family. The price includes the boat rental with all the equipment mentioned, but skipper will cost around £80 for 4 hours, and fuel paid separately.

Full-day private boat rental (8 hours)

When to take a boat trip in Denia

Before we look at the different options, you’ll probably want to know when to go. The main season for boat trips runs from May through October. July and August are the busiest months with the hottest weather in Denia, but also the highest prices as its tourist season.

Where to find your boat in Denia

Most boat trips depart from one of two locations in Denia:

Marina de Denia

Denia marina is where most catamaran and sailing tours depart from. You’ll find it at the northern end of town, well-signposted from the main roads.

There’s paid parking available nearby, but it fills up quickly in summer, so aim to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure.

Denia Port (Puerto de Denia)

The commercial port is where larger boats typically depart, including the ferries to Ibiza and Formentera. It’s located more centrally, with several parking options nearby.

The port area has restrooms and cafés where you can grab a coffee before boarding. Whichever boat trip you book, your confirmation email should specify the exact meeting point.

If in doubt, arrive early and ask at the marina office – they’re used to directing tourists to the right boats!

Essential tips for your Denia boat trip

  • Book in advance – especially in high season (July and August), the best boat trips sell out quickly
  • Bring sun protection – the Mediterranean sun is strong, and it’s even more intense on the water with the reflection
  • Pack light – most boats have limited space, so bring just the essentials
  • Take sea sickness tablets if you’re prone to motion sickness
  • Wear water shoes for rocky beach landings or swimming near caves
  • Bring a waterproof case for your phone/camera
  • Check if food/drinks are included in your trip or if you need to bring your own

Where to book your Denia boat trip

You have several options for booking boat trips in Denia:

  1. Online in advance – This is what I’d recommend, especially in summer. You’ll get the best choice and often better prices. Many operators offer online booking through Get Your Guide (see links throughout this article).
  2. At the marina – If you’re already in Denia, you can walk along the marina where several boat trip companies have booking offices. This works well in low season, but in summer many popular trips may already be full.
  3. Through your hotel – Many hotels in Denia can arrange boat trips for you, though this might come with a small booking fee.

With options for every budget and interest, from fishing charters to private yacht rentals, there’s a perfect boat trip waiting for you in Denia. Just remember to book ahead in peak season, slap on plenty of sun cream, and get ready for an unforgettable day on the Mediterranean!
