If you’re looking for the best way to travel from Denia to Ibiza, the ferry is the most convenient (and scenic) option.

This guide will walk you through how to take the ferry from Denia Port straight to Ibiza. I also detail some alternative ways to get to Ibiza, including flying from nearby airports, to help you choose the best option for your trip.

If you’re looking to travel by Ferry, you buy tickets directly on Direct Ferries through this link. I’ll show a step-by-step booking process further down in the article.

Taking the Ferry from Denia to Ibiza

The ferry to Ibiza is one of the easiest and most direct ways to travel from Denia. It’s particularly popular for those looking to enjoy the Mediterranean scenery on a relaxing journey.

Ferry Options

The main ferry operators that run regular services between Denia and Ibiza is Balearia. They offer high-speed ferries and standard services, and the crossing takes between 2 to 3 hours.

During peak season, ferries run more frequently, but it’s always a good idea to book in advance, especially if you’re travelling with a vehicle or during busy times like summer weekends or holidays.

Getting to the Denia Ferry Terminal

Ferries depart from Denia’s ferry terminal, located near the Denia town centre. Its easily accessible by car or on foot.

See the Denia ferry terminal on the Map below:

Booking your ferry online

You can easily book your ferry from Denia to Ibiza online, either directly through Balaeria’s website or using comparison sites like Direct Ferries, which I highly recommend to find the best deal and times through a range or providers. I’ll run through a quick process on booking your trip using their service.

Firstly, visit this Direct Ferries link which will take you straight to the Denia to Ibiza ticket page, which should look similar to the screenshot below.

  • On the left, choose whether you want a Return Trip or a One Way trip,
  • Add in the dates you wish to travel on.
  • Add in how many people are travelling with you, any pets, and if you’re a foot passenger or taking a car with you. Taking your car will increase the overall cost of the trip.
  • If you are a Balaeric Islands resident and have proof of residency, you can apply a residents’ discount by ticking the box.
  • Once ready, click Search.

You’ll see all of the available tickets on the dates you selected.

If you are looking for a round trip, the total price for the trip will show as it combines all ferry journeys for all passengers into one cost.

*Sometimes they can show trips from Valencia to Ibiza, these are usually much longer and offered by different providers. Make sure to check the locations before you book!

You can filter the results to show different listings, such as by preferred date and time, operators, or cheapest prices.

You can choose seat types for the trip, whether to have a table, first-class, or reserved seat. This will increase the cost of your tickets.

The Baleria ferry will travel to Ibiza Town, the capital of Ibiza. See the ferry station below.

Denia to Ibiza Ferry Ticket Prices

Ferry ticket prices vary based on the season, time of booking, and whether you’re bringing a car.

For a foot passenger, prices typically range from €40-€100 if you book tickets in advance while taking a car can cost around €200 or more depending on vehicle size and season.

If you plan to explore Ibiza on a road trip, I recommend taking your car on the ferry to save on rental costs once you arrive.

Many ferry operators offer packages that include vehicle transport, and it’s a straightforward process to drive on and off the ferry.

Boarding the Ferry

Once onboard, you’ll find a variety of amenities, including a bar/cafe, seating, and in some cases, even outdoor decks for enjoying the sea breeze.

For the best views of the Mediterranean, I recommend heading up to the deck as you approach Ibiza – it’s a fantastic way to arrive on the island.

Alternative Routes to Ibiza

While the ferry is the most direct and scenic route, you also have the option to fly to Ibiza from either Alicante Airport (ALC) or Valencia Airport (VLC).

This may take longer, as you need to travel from Denia to either airport, check-in, board and fly, however this might be more cost-effective as the flights can be very cheap.

Flying from Alicante Airport to Ibiza

Alicante Airport is the closest airport to Denia, and it offers several daily flights to Ibiza. Flying takes around 30 minutes, making it the fastest option if you’re looking to save time.

  • Getting to Alicante Airport: Alicante Airport is about an hour’s drive from Denia (roughly 104km). You can take a direct ALSA bus from Denia to the airport, but do give yourself plenty of time with this option. I’ve written an in-depth travel guide that you can read about travelling between Alicante airport and Denia.

Flying from Valencia Airport to Ibiza

Valencia Airport is another good option to travel from, and also if you want to explore Valencia before heading to Ibiza. The flight time is also around 30-45 minutes, and you can find multiple daily flights with airlines like Ryanair and Vueling.

  • Getting to Valencia Airport: Valencia Airport is about 112km from Denia, and the drive takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Again, you can take an ALSA bus or drive yourself.

Both airports have car rental services if you prefer to drive yourself and explore Costa Blanca along the way, this may be more suitable.

Which travel option is the best one for me?

If you’re not in a rush and want to enjoy the Mediterranean, the ferry is by far the most enjoyable option. The ferry journey is an experience in itself!

For a quicker option, flying from Alicante or Valencia is more time-efficient, especially if you’re short on time.

Practical tips

  • Weather: Be aware that ferry schedules can be affected by weather conditions, especially during winter or periods of high winds. Always check for updates before your journey.
  • Book in advance: Ferry tickets, especially for vehicles, can sell out quickly during peak periods. I highly recommend booking your ferry tickets and flights in advance.
  • Accommodation: If you plan to stay in Denia before your ferry, there are plenty of lovely boutique hotels in the area, especially in the Old Town or near the marina.
