Visiting Spain with your family or friends and looking for exciting things to do in Denia and around the area? I’ve got a fantastic guide for you! A few amazing zoos sit within easy reach of Denia, about a 40 minute drive away.

In this guide, I’ll share the best zoos to visit near Denia, what’s great about each zoo, along with ticket prices and how to get there (mostly on the AP-7). Let me make planning your wildlife day out as simple as possible!

The nearest zoos to Denia which I’ve detailed are:

You can buy tickets directly through the below link on GetYourGuide at no cost to you.

Terra Natura Benidorm

Terra Natura is my top pick for a brilliant family day out from Denia. With over 1500 animals across 200 species, it’s a massive wildlife park that will keep everyone amazed all day long.

What makes Terra Natura stand out is how the animals live in huge, natural spaces that match their home environments. You’ll walk through different world regions, each with its own animals and plant life.

The park splits into three main areas:

  • Americas – where you’ll find jaguars at their most active in the morning, and funny capuchin monkeys playing around
  • Asia – home to a lovely family of Indian elephants (with a baby born in 2024!), Bengal tigers, and Asian lions
  • Pangea – filled with amazing reptiles, rare snakes, and fascinating insects

Getting to Terra Natura from Denia

The drive takes about 40 minutes via the AP-7 motorway. The route is straightforward:

  • Take the AP-7 towards Benidorm
  • Exit at 65 (you’ll see signs for Terra Natura)
  • Continue on CV-753
  • Take the CV-70 slip road
  • At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto CV-7673
  • Free parking right at the entrance

Opening times and tickets

Open 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The park is open again for the summer season! Adult tickets are currently €33 for adults, and €27 for children and seniors. Under-4s go free.

Mundomar

If your little ones are mad about sea life, they’ll absolutely love Mundomar! While it’s smaller than Terra Natura, the focus on marine animals and amazing shows makes it really special. Mundomar has just recently opened for the summer season again.

The stars of Mundomar are:

  • Dolphins performing fantastic acrobatic displays
  • Smart sea lions showing off their tricks
  • Beautiful exotic birds that fly right above you
  • Playful penguins splashing about

Show times

  • Dolphins: 1:30pm and 4:30pm
  • Sea lions: 12:45pm and 5:45pm
  • Birds: 11:15am, 2:30pm, 3:30pm

Getting to Mundomar from Denia

It’s about an hour’s drive from Denia:

  • Follow the AP-7 towards Benidorm
  • Look for signs to Mundomar/Aqualandia, Benidorm’s water parks
  • Parking costs €5 for the whole day

You can also catch regular buses from Denia to Benidorm, then take a short taxi to the park.

Ticket prices are currently 27 for adults, and 22 or children.

Which zoo should you pick?

If you’re staying in Denia for a week, I’d suggest:

  • Terra Natura for a full day out seeing lots of different animals – perfect if your kids love all kinds of wildlife. Terra Natura is better for couples and families with older children.
  • Mundomar if your family is keen on sea life and wants to watch amazing shows. It’s much better if you have toddlers.

My top tips

For Terra Natura:

  • Get there when it opens – the animals are most lively in the morning
  • Go when the weather in Denia looks sunny – from my personal experience, its not as nice to walk around in the rain all day
  • Take water bottles – you can fill them up around the park
  • Wear comfy shoes – there’s lots of walking!

For Mundomar:

  • Book any special experiences (like meeting dolphins) well before you go
  • Bring sun cream and hats – some waiting areas for shows are in the sun
  • Try to see the first dolphin show of the day when the dolphins are full of energy

Want to make it an even bigger day out? Both parks have water parks next door – perfect for cooling off in summer!
